Also known as the Fire Serpent, this Tibetan Reiki symbol is used to draw the Kundalini fire from the root chakra to to the crown chakra without allowing it to release.

This powerful Tibetan Reiki symbol represents the swirling heat of the Kundalini as it awakens.
Unifying body and mind, it ignites a fire in the root chakra pulling up strongly embedded negative energy and dis-ease from the body and releases it.
It is said to heal at the deepest of levels.

This painting began as a design for a meditation labyrinth. Representing a metaphorical walk into the chakras, the path leads you through the energy centres of the body, eventually resting in the Heart Chakra -- that which connects body and mind.
As I was painting, the meditating figure kept emerging from different sources. Perhaps it was the elusive nature of enlightenment expressing itself, emerging in unpredictable ways and at the most unexpected moments.

Expressing our innate quest towards joy, "Walking the Wellspring", contemplates the cyclical rhythms of the ever-entwined inner and outer, weaving us along our own unique path to the eternal centre.

Completed over a two year period, this series of bas relief (sculptural) paintings is a bold invitation to awaken into one's passion...each painting a different expression of that transformation. Although marked my memorable moments, self-evolution is anything but linear, rather it ebbs and flows through the ordinariness of our lives; spiritual in nature yet deeply embedded in the physicality of our being.
The composition of each painting was sculpted onto custom wood panels using various depths and textures of a spackle-like compound; the intensity of the colours built up slowly through repeated thin glazes of oil paint.

I love those moments where the cosmos pulls me out of my mundane existence and reminds me of its exquisite beauty and rhythm. Those times, whether simple or spectacular, that take me back to states of joy and wonder so naturally experienced as a child and so easily lost in the busyness of adulthood. I like to think of this piece as a gentle nudge from the universe to re-cultivate a true sense of wonder in life.

A playful synthesis of Zen within the energy of modern life, connecting mind, body and spirit in the here and now. The sculptural elements extend that understanding to our deeper relatedness to all that surrounds us.

Inspired by John Dee’s, Monas Hieroglyphica (circa 1564 a.d.), Spiraling Creation began as a design for a meditation labyrinth. As the design evolved into a painting, it insisted on being represented as a spiral of light carved on a cave wall. I imagined that eternal light glowing deep within each of us, quietly waiting to guide us as we create our own unique path from whatever life presents.

I am often awed by the amazing images from outer space and the questions they inspire about creation and existence. One day while doodling, I started to think about space exploration from a different perspective. What images might arise and what can we learn about ourselves and the universe when we “turn the telescope inwards”? What “Views From Inner Space” might we see?
